Mrs. Afalee Murdock, of Harrisonville, Missouri, was born February 14, 1911 near Harrisonville,Missouri, the daughter of William Wyly and Lucy B. (Nance) Babylon. She departed this lifeSaturday, June 20, 2009, Golden Years Care Services, Harrisonville at the age of 98 years, 4 months and 6 days.
On May 30, 1936, Afalee was united in marriage to Arlo ""Dutch"" Paul Murdock in Harrisonville,Missouri.
Afalee was employed at the Harrisonville School Food Service until her retirement in 1976 and had done volunteer work at the Casco Area Workshop. She was a 50+ year member of the FirstBaptist Church, Harrisonville and was a 1929 graduate of the Pleasant Hill, Missouri High School. Afalee loved to cook, garden, sew and make quilts. She was a lifelong Cass County area resident.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arlo ""Dutch"" Murdock on January 1, 1991; a son, Billy Bob Murdock on December 24, 2000; three sisters, Wila Norene Babylon, Norma Frances Nichols and Ardith Nelle Snow. She is survived by a daughter, Beverly Anderson, Harrisonville, Missouri; two grandchildren, Bradley M. Anderson and wife Jessilyn, Benton, Arkansas, Lori Lyn Harris and husband Dan,Parkville, Missouri; four great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Ryan and Lindsey Harris, Livingston Anderson; two step-great-grandchildren, Brandon and Ariana Wilson; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with burial in the Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Cass Medical Center Foundation or to Golden Years Care Services.
