Albert Lawrence Getz of Creighton, Missouri was born July 27, 1913 near Maysburg, Missouri the son of George and Rosie (Ade) Getz. He departed this life Sunday, December 17, 2006 at Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 93 years, 4 months and 20 days.
On March 26, 1939, Albert was united in marriage to Ruth Elsie Armstrong in Chula, Missouri.
Albert was a farmer. He was a member of the Evangel Presbyterian Church, Urich, Missouri. Albert for many years was the sexton and board member of the Grant Cemetery Association, Creighton. When his health permitted, he enjoyed traveling the country with his R.V. Club. Albert enjoyed going to coffee with his friends in Creighton and Urich. He had lived in the same house for 81 years and had moved to Creighton in 1920.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie on August 17, 1999; a grandson, Aaron Collins; four brothers, John, Herman, Chris and George; a sister, Bertha Turner.
He is survived by a son, A.J. Getz and wife, Pam, Maywood, Missouri; a daughter, Dixie Lee Collins and husband Carl, Marshall, Missouri; six grandchildren, Lisa, Paula, Lance, Candy, Justin and Brooke; four great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, December 21, 2006 at Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri with interment in the Grant Cemetery near Creighton, Missouri.
Family suggests contributions may be made to Grant Cemetery Association or to Candy Getz, Missionary to Malawi, Africa.
