Alma Lewis

Mrs. Alma Belle Lewis, of Harrisonville, Missouri, was born January 12, 1912 in Harrisonville, Missouri, the daughter of James Henry and Teelie Belle (Davis) Kirk. She departed this life Monday, September 4, 2006, at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 94 years, 7 months and 22 days.
On February 28, 1942, Alma was united in marriage to Charles Damon Lewis in Harrisonville, Missouri.
Alma was a Nurse's Aid for Cass County Memorial Hospital, Harrisonville for over 20 years until her retirement on August 15, 1982. She was a 60 year member of the First Christian Church, Freeman, Missouri before transferring her membership to the First Christian Church, Harrisonville in 2001. Alma was a 4-H Leader for the Wolf Club near Freeman and active member of the Happy Homemakers Club, Freeman. She loved sewing, visiting with family and baking pies. Alma had lived in Harrisonville before moving to Freeman in 1942 and then back to Harrisonville in 2000.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Damon Lewis on February 15, 1998; three sisters, Nellie Musick, Bessie Garrett and Jessie Garrett.
She is survived by a son, Damon Allen Lewis, Livingston, Texas; a daughter, Charlesine Guy and husband Harry, Grandview, Missouri; a granddaughter, Laurie Lee Guy, Chicago, Illinois; 2 step-grandchildren, Renee Graham, Oak Grove, Missouri, Rhonda Makings, Odessa, Missouri; 5 step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Ivan Kirk, Lee's Summit, Missouri; a sister, Doris Bohannon and a niece, Dorothy Thomas both of Harrisonville, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 8, 2006 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville with burial in the Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville.
Family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 8, 2006 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Lewis will lie in state from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 7, 2006 at the funeral home.
