Alta Mae Neill Wehmeyer left her earthly body to be present with the Lord on November 13, 2024 with her daughter by her side at Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, MO. She was 89 years, 3 months, and 22 days.
Alta was born July 22, 1935 in Creighton, Missouri to Noah Francis Neill and Gladys Marie Bunch Neill. She was preceded in death by her three siblings Carolyn Annette Harbstreet, Marilyn Dona Killingsworth and John Edward Neill.
Alta graduated from Creighton High School in 1953. On September 6, 1953 she was united in marriage to the late Richard Lee Wehmeyer and they spent their lives together farming in the Creighton, Missouri community. To this union one child was born, a daughter, Cheyenne Wehmeyer Callwell. Alta was also preceded in death by a grand- daughter, Teresa Lynn Hargrove.
Alta leaves behind her daughter and son-in-law Cheyenne and Lloyd Craig Callwell. Grandchildren Jon Michel Jackson, wife Becca, James Robert Hargrove, wife Amanda and Rex Lee Jackson. Also, seven great grandchildren: Shane, Cameron, Dillon, Jonna, Alta, Richard and Leea.
As a friend once said of Alta, she did not know of anyone who ever walked closer with God. The Bible and God was always where she found her most peaceful moments and her direction and strength to go through her life on earth.
Inurnment with a Memorial Graveside Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Grant Cemetery near Creighton, Missouri.
