Mrs. Beatrice “Betty” Josephine Miles devoted mother and grandmother was born December 31, 1922 in Glasgow, Missouri the daughter of Paul George and Mary (Lynch) Stockman. She departed this life in her sleep on September 1, 2012 at St. Joseph Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri surrounded by love and family at the age of 89 years, 8 months and 1 day.
Betty was employed as a LPN at the VA in Leavenworth, Kansas until her retirement in 1987. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Harrisonville, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her son Ray Jr. and daughter Mary E. Liu, daughter in law Maureen Miles and grandson Bryan Miles Liu. Betty is survived by her children Bob Miles and wife, Sue, Arlington Heights, Illinois, Ron Miles and wife, Valerie, Liberty Lake, Washington, Bonnie LaVigne and husband, Peter, St. James City, Florida, Rick Miles and wife, Lorrie, Shawnee, Kansas, Barb Basgall and husband, John, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Randy Miles, Virginia Beach, Virginia, Bernadette Thompson and husband, Brian, Harrisonville, Missouri, daughter in law Suzanne Miles, Birmingham, Alabama, 21 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, sisters Catherine Johnson, Lady Lake, Florida, Peggy Duke, West Covina, California; other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Harrisonville, Missouri with burial in the Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, Kansas. Services are under the direction of Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor, Kansas City, Missouri and may be sent in care of Dickey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 432 Harrisonville, Missouri.
