Billy J. Huffman

Billy Joe "BJ" Huffman 77 of Harrisonville was unexpectedly called home to be with the lord on Sunday November 17, 2024 at Cass Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family.

Billy was born February 8,1947 to parents Wilbur Harold Huffman and Lucy Beatice "Jane" Huffman (Cook) in Springfield Missouri. He worked constructiuon for his father building houses until enlisting in the United States Air Force right after graduating from Strafford High School in 1965. After basic training in Texas, BJ was stationed in Biloxi Mississippi where he graduated tech school. It was there where he met the love of his life, Nelda Elnora Mayfield. The two married on May 28,1968 in Grandview Missouri. Billy courted her every day for 56 years and 5 months (20,627 days).

After leaving the military, Billy worked as an electronic technician for 40 years working everywhere from Commenco in Kansas City Missouri to several radio stations in Alaska. He then decided to try his hand at retirement. A year later he was back to work, this time driving, most recently for Orielly's Automotive in Harrisonville Missouri for the last 5 years.

Billy was full of life whether he was playing the piano or just being with the family. He touched so many lives, mostly because he never met a stranger and would help anyone regardless if he knew them or not. Billy was loved by everyone who ever had the pleasure of meeting him.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents Wilbur and Jane Huffman, Bonus mom Pauline Huffman (Buckner), His younger brother Danny Huffman and infant son Billy Joe Huffman Jr.

Billy was survived by his wife Nelda of the home, - 4 children Twyla of Harrisonville Missouri , Bryan "Joe" of Harrisonville Missouri, Lucye (Darren) Ritchey of Belton Missouri and Bonny of Harrisonville Missouri - 8 grandchildren Dale "DJ" (Cassi) Phillips of St Mary's Georgia, Tamara "Tami" (Landon) Baney of Freeman Missouri, John (Ashley) Vanderpool of Butler Missouri , Jessee (Ryan) Brawley of Harrisonville Missouri, Brittney Ritchey of Belton Missouri , Slade Ritchey of Belton Missouri, Dalton Gattenby of Harrisonville Missouri and Angel Turney of Harrisonville Missouri - 12 great grandchildren Aubry, Aurora, Jayden, Zita, Jace, Leilah, Braytonn, Adelaide, Dominic, Xavier, Octaveeyah and Milliy, - His older brother Wilbur "Smokey" ( Winnie) Huffman of Hutto Texas, - three bonus brothers Richard (Pam) Lyle of Springfield Missouri, Roger (Jean) Lyle of Springfield Missouri and Arnold (Carolyn) Lyle of Springfield Missouri as well as countless nieces and nephews, as well as anyone who was blessed enough to call him Billy, BJ, Grandpa,Dad, Pa or Papa. He loves you all!! 

Cremation with a Celebration of life service will be held 4:00 p.m. Sunday, December 8, 2024 at the Harrisonville Church of The Nazarene, Harrisonville, Missouri. 

Visitation will be held 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Sunday, December 8, 2024 at the Harrisonville Church of The Nazarene, Harrisonville, Missouri.
