Billy Montgomery

Billy LeRoy Montgomery of Garden City, Missouri was born May 20, 1942 in Joplin, Missouri the son of William Howard and Gladys Louise (Stockam) Montgomery. He departed this life on Thursday, July 2, 2009 at Veterans Administration Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 67 years, 1 month and 12 days.
On November 29, 1991, Billy was united in marriage to Billie Jean (McBurney) Edgar in Kansas City, Missouri.
Billy was employed as a civil engineer for the Missouri Department of Transportation in Kansas City, Missouri until his retirement in 2002. He was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War serving as a Lieutenant. Billy was a member of the United Methodist Church, Garden City, Missouri, Disabled American Veterans Chapter, Kansas City, Missouri, National Civil Engineering Honor Society, Xe Chi Epsilon Chapter. He was a graduate of the University of Missouri ? Rolla, Rolla, Missouri. Billy enjoyed his family, was a hobby farmer and enjoyed doing stained glass crafts. He had lived in Kansas City before moving to near Garden City in 2001.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
He is survived by his wife, Billie J. Montgomery of the home; two sons, Mark William Montgomery, Warrensburg, Missouri, Matthew David Montgomery, Kansas City, Missouri; a step-son, Christopher Edgar, Lee?s Summit, Missouri; a step-daughter, Stephanie Boyd, Garden City, Missouri; eight grandchildren; his father, William H. Montgomery, a brother, Gary Montgomery, two sisters, Sandy Ferguson and Mikell Warren all of Joplin, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.
Celebration of Life Visitation was held Saturday, July 11, 2009 at the United Methodist Church, Garden City, Missouri.
Family suggest that memorial contibutions may be made to the United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, Garden City, Missouri.
