Billy Christopher Payne

Billy Christopher Payne age 73 of Garden City, Missouri was born on June 16, 1951, in Harrisonville, MO to John C. Payne & Hester (Osborn) Payne Strate. He departed this life Saturday, July 20, 2024, at his home surrounded by the love of his family and friends.

Billy spent most of his life in Cass County on the land where much of his family had lived since the mid-1800s. He graduated from the University of Central Missouri before his professional pursuits in business. Much of his career was in the sales of agriculture related products. Billy has been credited with an invention and patent on one of the products he represented. 

Billy was a proud American and a strong advocate of the second amendment and known by many as a firearms expert. One of his greatest passions in life was Harley Davidson motorcycles and American muscle cars. Billy enjoyed riding with friends and working on the motorcycles and cars he collected. He was frequently in the company of several dogs as they too were an important part of his life.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents and all half siblings.

Billy is survived by many nieces and nephews including Joan (Payne) Dunham of Raymore, Patty Payne of Independence, Teresa Payne of Harrisonville, Charlotte (Payne) Holden of Garden City, John Payne of Harrisonville, Sean Dunham of Raymore and the best family friend you could ask for, Shirley Ackerman of Harrisonville.

Cremation with a Celebration of Life with family and friends on September 28th at 3:00 pm at 40503 E State Route 2 Garden City Mo, 64747. 

The family suggests Memorial Contributions to be made to ASPCA or Wayside Waifs and sent in care of Dickey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 432, Harrisonville, Missouri 64701.
