Harvey Arnold “Butch” Stephens, 72, of Greenwood, Missouri, was born, February 7, 1947, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Curtis M. and Mary F. (Erhart) Stephens. He departed this life, Sunday, November 3, 2019, at his stepdaughter’s home in Blue Springs, Missouri.
Butch was a 1965 Gerard Kansas High School graduate and was a United States Marine Corps veteran serving several tours of duty during the Vietnam War.
In July 1984 he was united in marriage to Vicki Lynn (Scott) Dike in Greenwood. She preceded just 5 months earlier on May 27, 2019.
Butch was a self-employed auto mechanic owning and operating his own automobile repair shop. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post #2632 in California, Maryland. He and Vicki were both heavily involved with the V.F.W. while living in Maryland and both were avid supporters of the V.F.W. National Home for Children. He enjoyed going to auctions and estate sales, refinishing antique furniture, and remodeling older homes.
Butch was also preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by one stepson, Chad (and Ella) Dike of Greenwood; one stepdaughter, Brenna (and Shawn) Siegel of Blue Springs; one grandson, Justin Moon of Blue Springs; one brother, Charles Stephens of Salina, Kansas; one sister, Marsha (and Dennis) Dority of Salina; other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 7, 2019, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 7, 2019, at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill, Missouri. Reverend D. Kent Deubner will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Greenwood cemetery with full military honors by the United States Marines and the V.F.W. Post #3118 Honor Guard.
