Carol Jean Brown, 87, of Blue Springs, Missouri, formerly of Garden City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2025, at Sunterra Springs Rehabilitation Facility. She was born on July 12, 1937, in Odell, Nebraska.

Carol married the love of her life, Billy G. Brown, on November 10, 1956. They shared a devoted partnership until Billy’s passing on July 20, 2014. Together, they built a loving family and a life filled with cherished memories.

Carol is survived by her daughters Susan L. Stehli (John) of Cape Coral, Florida, and Katherine A. Shields (James) of Blue Springs, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her daughter Linda J. Kaneaster on March 24, 2002. Carol’s legacy continues through her grandchildren Laura Kaneaster, Jennifer Kaneaster, Amanda Kaneaster (all of Independence, Missouri), Andrew Rodgers and Jarrett Rodgers (both of Shawnee, Kansas), Jesse Rodgers (Cape Coral, Florida), Ashley Shields (Dallas, Texas), and Grant Shields (Blue Springs, Missouri). She also leaves behind great-grandchildren Chloe Kaneaster, Peighton Monnig, Lyndie Redmond, Georgia Tiebout (all of Independence, Missouri), and Keegan Rodgers (Peculiar, Missouri). Carol was also preceded in death by her great-grandson Trace Kaneaster.

A dedicated homemaker for much of her life, Carol later worked for the House of Lloyd and The Salvation Army after raising her children. Carol was a member of the Heart of Life Church in Garden City, MO, she enjoyed volunteering her time for Bible School, making coffee for Sunday Services and upkeep of the beautiful flowers adorning the entry way of her beloved church. She and Bill enjoyed their church family and made many friends there over the years. In her later years at Novel Place in Blue Springs, she thrived in a vibrant community where she enjoyed meeting new friends and participating in activities like Wii Bowling and social dinners. She found joy in reading and crossword puzzles throughout her life.

Carol will be remembered for her warmth and the joy she brought to those around her. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 17, 2025 at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with interment at Garden City Cemetery, Garden City, Missouri. 

Visitation will be held 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Friday January 17, 2025 at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
