Carol LaVonne Parker of Independence, Missouri was born December 18, 1930 in Creighton, Missouri the daughter of Hale Edwin and Irene Crete (Lindsey) Jenkins. She departed this life on Monday, June 10, 2013 at The Village of Jackson Creek, Independence at the age of 82 years, 5 months and 23 days.
Carol was united in marriage to William Herbert Parker on July 8, 1949 in Garden City, Missouri.
Carol was a homemaker and enjoyed doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She will be remembered by her family as shy, quiet and a homebody. She had a wicked sense of humor and a very strong since as to what was right or wrong. Carol had lived in Creighton and Drexel, Missouri and Wichita, Kansas before moving to Independence in 1964.
Besides her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her grandson, Michael Shumate; four brothers, Edwin, Mack, Gene and Bob.
Carol is survived by her husband, William H. Parker of the home; two daughters, Carol A. Shumate and Sandra L. Guthrie and husband, Larry all of Independence, Missouri; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles Hale Jenkins, Drexel, Missouri; other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 14, 2013 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri. Burial is in the Grant Cemetery near Creighton, Missouri.
The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Association; the Alzheimer Association or to the American Lung Association.
