Charles F. Hemenway, of Raymore, Missouri, was born December 8, 1920 in Boonville, Indiana the son of Charlie and Olive Isabelle (Ingram) Hemenway. He departed this life on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at St. Luke's East, Lee's Summit, Missouri at the age of 93 years, 11 months and 8 days.
On July 26, 1940, Charles was united in marriage to Louise Robertson and two children were born into this union, Janet and Dennis. Later he was united in marriage to Ruth (Carpenter) Coulter on June 26, 1974.
Charles was employed as a coal miner for Peabody until his retirement in 1978 and later did upholstery work. He was a member of the Hermitage Christian Church, Pleasant Hill Christian Church after moving to Raymore, the VFW Post #9638, Galmey, Missouri and a 50 year member of the Hermitage Lodge #288 A.F. & A.M., Hermitage, Missouri. Charles was an Army veteran of World War II. He had lived in Galmey, Missouri before moving to Raymore in 2011.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Louise Hemenway in November of 1973; a step-son, Rex Coulter; a granddaughter, Tracy Hemenway; a step-grandson, Jeff Coulter.
Charles is survived by his wife, Ruth Hemenway of the home; a daughter, Janet Thompson and husband David, Boonville, Indiana; a son, Dennis Hemenway, Clinton, Missouri; a step-son, Edward Coulter, Raymore, Missouri; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Cremation. A Masonic Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 24, 2014 at the Hermitage Christian Church, Hermitage, MO with the Celebration of Life Service to immediately follow.
The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the VFW Post #9638 Charlie Hemenway Scholarship Fund. Arrangements are under the direction of the Cass County Cremation Service, Harrisonville, Missouri.
