Daniel ""Danny"" Bottero of Warrensburg, Missouri, was born November 7, 1918 in Frontenac, Kansas, the son of Joseph and Angelina (Goldina) Bottero. He departed this life Tuesday, August 8, 2006, at the Country Club Care Center, Warrensburg at the age of 87 years 9 months and 1 day.
On June 2, 1943, Danny was united in marriage to Nelladene Montgomery in Seneca, Missouri.
Danny was a Metropolitan Life Insurance Agent in Harrisonville, Missouri for 26 years and was also a teacher and Head Football Coach for Harrisonville High School. He was a Captain in the Army Air Force during World War II serving 25 months in the European Theater Operations. Danny was a member of the American Legion Post, Frontenac, Kansas and the VFW Post in Pittsburg, Kansas. He was a 1936 graduate of Frontenac High School where he participated in football, basketball and ran track. He attended Arkansas City Junior College graduating in 1939 and later attended Pittsburg Teacher College where he graduated in 1941. He won Golden Gloves Titles in Pittsburg, Kansas in 1936, 1937 and 1940, Hutchison, Kansas titles in 1938 and 1939 and was Kansas City Golden Gloves and Missouri Valley AAU Champion in 1940. Danny served on the Harrisonville City Council for many years and started the youth football program in Harrisonville. He had lived in Harrisonville and Joplin, Missouri before moving to Warrensburg in 2002.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Bottero and a sister, Madeline Achille.
He is survived by his wife, Nelladene Bottero of the home; two daughters, Kay L. Bell and husband Ron, Claremore, Oklahoma, Deborah Pfister and husband Jerry, Knob Noster, Missouri; four grandchildren, Brian, Brett, Chad and Cassie; a great-grandson, Logan; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 11, 2006 at the Dickey Funeral
Home, Harrisonville with a 3:00 p.m. Graveside service Friday, August 11, 2006 at
the Seneca Cemetery, West Seneca, Oklahoma.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the American Stroke association.
