Darrell Lee Leavell, of Archie, Missouri, was born December 29, 1938 in Butler, Missouri, the son of Marvin Harold Gundy and Jennie Dora (Miller) Leavell. He departed this life Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at his home near Archie at the age of 68 years, 6 months and 12 days.
Darrell was united in marriage to Mildred Leona Kagarice on July 4, 1960 in Harrisonville, Missouri and later married Rosemary Diane Jacobs on December 28, 1986 near Archie, Missouri.
Darrell was employed with the Cass County Road and Bridge Department from 1996 until his retirement in 2003. Earlier he was employed in the maintenance department for Anaconda Erickson Wire and Cable, Harrisonville, Missouri from 1964 until 1988. He was a member of the Austin Baptist Church near Archie. Darrell enjoyed vintage cars, going to car shows, swap meets, local cruise nights and visiting friends. He was a life long resident of the Austin Community near Archie and was a 1956 graduate of the Archie High School.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin Allen Leavell and William Leavell.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Leavall of the home; a son, Kevin Leavell and wife Patty, Archie, Missouri; a daughter, Ramona Anderson and husband Gerald, Adrian, Missouri; a step-son, Ronald Jacobs and wife Melissa, Butler, Missouri; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 14, 2007 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with burial in the Crescent Hill Cemetery near Adrian, Missouri.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Crossroads hospice or to the Austin Baptist Church Memorial Fund.
