David Johnson

David Lavon Johnson of Harrisonville, Missouri was born December 14, 1950 in Garnett, Kansas the son of Calvin Lavon and Rosemary Jane (Staton) Johnson. He departed this life on Friday, June 27, 2008 at his home near Harrisonville surrounded by his family at the age of 57 years, 6 months and 13 days.
On July 12, 1973, David was united in marriage to Deborah Zee Jones in Miami, Oklahoma.
David was employed as a electrician retiring from IBEW Local 124, Kansas City, Missouri in 2003 after 33 years of loyal service. In 1990, his employment continued as an electrician with Honeywell (Allied-Signal), Kansas City. David grew up in Grandview, Missouri and was a 1968 graduate of Grandview High School. He enjoyed coaching his son's baseball team, attended many karate tournaments, band concerts and volleyball games. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman. From catching marlin in Cabo San Lucas, hunting black bear in Alaska, wart hogs in Texas and hunting many deer, antelope, ducks and geese. David had moved to Harrisonville in 1986.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie Johnson of the home; a son, Roy Lee Johnson and his fianc, Jessica Ferm; a daughter, Maggie Johnson all of the home; his parents, Calvin ""Shorty"" and Rosemary Johnson, Pleasanton, Kansas; a sister, Carolyn Semler and husband, Jerry, Peculiar, Missouri; a nephew, Brian Semler and wife, Amy, Harrisonville, Missouri; four great nieces; other relatives and many friends
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with burial at the Orient Cemetery.
Family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Good Shepherd Hospice and or to the Pancreatic Cancer Organization.
