David "Smitty" Smith

David "Smitty" M. Smith, age 66, passed away on December 1, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his loving family, following a valiant struggle with cancer. Born on February 10, 1957, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, he was the cherished son of Lee M. Smith and Claire G. (Tuffs) Smith.

David was the owner and operator of Smitty’s Home Repair Services, and his professional life was marked by his exceptional skills in HVAC, plumbing, electrical work, and a variety of other handyman and carpentry roles. After his retirement David enjoyed building and repairing classic American muscle cars. His hobbies also included golf and David was an exceptional pool player.

David married Tracy R Raney, his wife of 38 years, in Divide Colorado on December 2, 1985. Surviving David are Tracy, their children, Michael, Greg and Kara, son-in-law Jeffrey, his grandchildren JJ and Johnah and his nephew Randy Walters. David also loved Yeager, his Rottweiler, and Charlie his Pointer-Weimaraner mix like his children as well.

David was preceded in death by his parents Lee and Claire Smith, sister Shirley Hass, brothers Steve Smith and Lee Jr. Smith. 

A graveside service of remembrance will be held at 2:00 pm Friday December 8, 2023 at Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville, MO. In lieu of flowers the family requests any donations be made to assist with the cost of his services to the Venmo account @tracyrs1103.
