Delbert Lee Francy, of Garden City, Missouri, was born March 9, 1926 in Lamar, Missouri the son of Jones Samuel and Alice Alwilda (Beck) Francy. He departed this life on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 87 years, 7 months and 14 days.
On August 28, 1948, Delbert was united in marriage to Bonnie Belle Breeden in Garden City, Missouri.
Delbert served in the Army during WWII from 1944-1946. He served with the 2nd Infantry, 9th Regt. Co K as Private 1st Class. Delbert was a farmer and stockman. He had also been employed with the Cass County Road & Bridge Department and the East Lynne, Missouri Elevator. Delbert loved to hunt and fish, work in his garden and build all kinds of things from wood. His greatest love was being with family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Francy on January 28, 2008; two sons, Leroy and Larry Francy and a daughter, Saundra Conner.
Delbert is survived by two daughters, Wanda Engelhardt and husband Rick, Chilhowee, Missouri, Carolyn Kenagy and husband Delbert, Garden City, Missouri; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Clifford Francy, Centerview, Missouri, Freddie Francy, Pleasant Hill, Missouri, Donnie Francy, Harrisonville, Missouri; a sister, Doris Oldham, Blue Springs, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri.
In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or Garden City Meals On Wheels.
