Dixie Lee Atkin 69 of Creighton Missouri, was born March 02, 1943 in Kansas City, Missouri, daughter of Robert Laurel and Elizabeth Iona Michael. She departed this life on Teusday, May 08, 2012 at Research Medical Center, Kansas City Missouri
She was united in marriage On March 08, 1965 to Raymond "Gene" Atkin in Kansas City Missouri where they resided until making their permanent residence in Creighton Missouri in 1971. Dixie worked for many years with her husband Raymond at Peterson's Manufacturing Company in Grandview, Missouri. She and her husband took on a new challenge of Business owners when they bought and ran a small grocery store and cafe in Creighton, Missouri. They soon moved to a new location in Creighton known as Dixie's Cafe which was also a convenience store and gas station. They also owned and operated a grocery store in Leeton, Missouri and a Cafe for a short time. Her passion for her family and friends always kept her very busy. She may not have always been able to help everyone as much as she wanted to but would do for others what she was able to do.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Linda Diane Atkin and son, Robert Jon Atkin.
Dixie is survived by her husband Raymond E. Atkin of the home; her two sons, Michael Atkin and his wife Jennifer of Garden City, Missouri, Christopher Atkin and his wife Jodie of Urich, Missouri; a step son, Tim Atkin and his wife Mary of Roscoe, Missouri; one daughter, Gina M. Dalton of Creighton, Missouri; a step daughter, Tammy Kirkwood and her husband Tad of Kansas City, Missouri, two sisters, Molly Willis of Choctaw, Oklahoma, and Laurie Peil of Gladstone, Missouri; eighteen grandchildren; neices and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Private Celebration of Life Services. Cremation.

Arrangements are under the direction of Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri.
