Donald Ray Don Carey, of Harrisonville, Missouri, was born July 2, 1933 in Picher, Oklahoma, the son of James Howard and Mildred Leona (Kennedy) Carey. He departed this life Saturday, May 13, 2006, Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 72 years, 10 months and 11 days.
On November 27, 1953, Don was united in marriage to Carole Beth Barnes in Picher, Oklahoma.
Don was employed as a Senior Engineering Technologist for Allied Signal, Kansas City, Missouri until his retirement in October of 1993 and later was a substitute teacher for the Harrisonville School District at the Cass Career Center. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Harrisonville, where he was a former Deacon and Elder. Don was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the IAMAW Local # 314, Kansas City and a former Alderman for the City of Harrisonville. Don moved to Harrisonville in 1960. He loved his grandchildren, outdoors, fishing and boating.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by
four brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Carole B. Carey of the home; two daughters, Tela Gough and husband Ron and Shelley Jansen and husband Steve all of Harrisonville, Missouri; four grandchildren, Eli, Leah, Sarah and Anna; two brothers, Robert Carey, El Paso, Texas, Joe Carey, Tulsa, Oklahoma; a sister, Marjorie Reeves, Picher, Oklahoma; other relatives and many friends
Funeral services were held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at the First Christian Church, Harrisonville with burial in the Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Donald R. Carey CCC Scholarship fund.
