Donald Dee Borum

Donald (Dee) Borum, 84 of Creighton, Missouri died Friday, November 25, 2016, at Golden Years Rehab Center in Harrisonville, MO, under the care of Hospice. He was born October 12, 1932 in Latour, Missouri, the son of Leland Kelly Borum and Sarah Maye (Henne) Borum.
He married Donna L. Wehmeyer on June 3, 1956, in Quick City, MO, and she survives of the home. Dee was a member of the Quick City Christian Church, Quick City, MO until it closed. He attended elementary school in the Garden City area, and graduated from Creighton High School. Dee enjoyed, fishing with his family and friends, farming, and opening up the restaurant in town every morning to get the coffee ready. He was a past member of the Creighton Volunteer Fire Department and a past member of the Creighton Softball Association Dee entered the United States Marine Corps as a Corporal on June 1, 1954 and was honorably discharged as a Corporal (E-3) from the United States Marine Corps on September 3, 1960. He received a National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal.
In addition to his wife, surviving are, one daughter, Kendra S. Cooper, Peculiar, MO, one son, Brian R. Borum, Harrisonville, MO, four grandchildren, Brooke N. (Famuliner-Cooper) Lutz (Ryan), Olathe, KS; Justin A. Borum (Kayla), Harrisonville, MO; Whitney E (Cooper) Hoenshell (Grady), Peculiar, MO; and, Cody A. Borum, Harrisonville, MO; two great grandchildren, Lillian B. Lutz and Blaine Lutz, Olathe, KS; one brother, Kelly Borum (Beverly) Urich, MO.; three sisters, Eula Bullard, Independence, MO; Joyce Herndon (Bob) Linn MO; and, Sharon Firsick, Raytown, MO, and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Rev. H.E. (Jack) Borum, Kenneth (Buster) Borum, and Richard (Dick) Borum; four sisters, Virginia McGuire, Susie Romine, Lucille Williams, and June Millam.
The visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., Saturday, December 10, 2016 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, MO, with a memorial service at 2:30 p.m.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Crossroads Hospice Care or St. Jude’s Children Hospital, and these may be left in care of the funeral home.
