Donald “Donnie” Ray Jacobs, of Platte City, Missouri was born July 28, 1943 in Clinton, Missouri the son of Herbert Lee and Ruth Anna (Ewing) Jacobs. He departed this life on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at his home at the age of 73 years, 3 months and 14 days.
Donnie was an assembler for General Motors at Fairfax until his retirement after 30 years of loyal service on February 1, 1995. After his retirement, he was the grounds keeper at Tiffany Greens Golf Resort. Donnie was a Marine veteran serving in the Vietnam War and was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #4405, Platte City, Missouri. He loved being outdoors, hunting and fishing.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Jacobs on December 30, 2012 and a brother, Kenneth Jacobs.
Donnie is survived by two sons, Clint Jacobs, Kansas City, Missouri, Preston Jacobs, Rogers, Arkansas; two daughters, Teresa Ryan and husband Mikel, Grandview, Missouri, Rachel Dawn Jacobs-Reeves and husband Danny, Harrisonville, Missouri; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and one on the way; four brothers, Hobart Jacobs, Belton, Missouri, Bob Jacobs, Creighton, Missouri, Richard Jacobs, Harrisonville, Missouri, Charlie Jacobs, Warsaw, Missouri; two sisters, Betty Leon, Blue Springs, Missouri, Mary Anne Cox, Urich, Missouri; his loving friend and caregiver, Linda Moore of the home; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri with burial in the Mullin Cemetery near Urich, Missouri.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the VFW Service Officer Program.
