Donald Gene Francy, longtime Harrisonville resident, departed this life on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Lawson Manor, Lawson, Missouri at the age of 76 years and 24 days. Don was born April 22, 1939 in Lamar, Missouri the son of Jones Samuel and Alice Alwilda (Beck) Francy.
On June 4, 1961, Don was united in marriage to Thelma Jean Frazier in East Lynne, Missouri. On August 3, 2003, Don was united in marriage to Alana Gail in Harrisonville, Missouri.
Don graduated from Pleasant Hill High School in 1957. He was a United States Army Veteran serving with the 549th Quartermaster Company (Aerial Supply). Don was a farmer, a member of the UAW (Local 93) and a roofer. Don was employed by General Motors in Kansas City for 28 years until his retirement in 1990. Following his early retirement, he was owner of Don’s Roofing. Don loved to garden, hunt and fish. His greatest love was being with family, especially his grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Thelma Francy on September 14, 2004 and his second wife, Alana Francy on April 7, 2011; granddaughter, Lauren Nicole Young.
Don is survived by two daughters, Karen Smith and husband Jackie, Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Kathy Carver and husband Brandon, Kansas City, Missouri; four grandchildren, Elizabeth, Ashley, Jonathan and Alexis; four great-grandchildren, Madison, Mason, Landon and Adelyn; two brothers, Clifford Francy, Centerview, Missouri, Freddie Francy, Pleasant Hill, Missouri; a sister, Doris Oldham, Blue Springs, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.
Cremaiton. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2015 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
Family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 30, 2015 at the funeral home.
In Lieu of flowers, the family suggest contributions be made to Three Rivers Hospice or Alzheimer's Association Heart of America Chapter.
