Donald John Greufe, of Urich, Missouri was born February 21, 1927 in Walthill, Nebraska the son of Herman John and Elizabeth Theresa (Daldrup) Greufe. He departed this life Saturday, January 15, 2011 at his home at the age of 83 years, 10 months and 24 days.
On February 11, 1950, Donald was united in marriage to Mary Jo Hargrave in Clinton, Missouri.
Donald was employed as a truck driver for Contract Freighter?s Inc. in Joplin, Missouri until his retirement in 1992. He also owned and operated Garden City Hardware, Garden City, Missouri. Donald was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Urich, the Am Vets, and the Urich American Legion. Donald was an avid card player and his favorite game was pitch.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jo Greufe on July 1, 2008; a son, Roger Mark Greufe on April 10, 2008; three brothers, Edwin, Julian and Gene Greufe.
Donald is survived by a son, Stephen K. Greufe and wife Terri Jo, Raymore, Missouri; a daughter, Deborah Jo and Michael Klassen, Urich, Missouri; three grandchildren, Mark Jay and wife Angie, Angela Rose Greufe and Emily Smith and husband, Josh; three great-grandchildren, Elijah and Owen Smith, Lorraine Jay; a sister, Mildred T. Soderland, Lake St. Louis, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Urich, MO with burial in the Hickory Grove Cemetery, Urich.
A Rosary was held Tuesday, Jan 18, 2011 at the church with visitation following the Rosary until service time.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Hickory Grove Cemetery Association, Urich First Responders or the Twin Lakes Hospice, Clinton, MO.
