Donald Ray Riggs

Ret. USAF Master Sgt. Donald Ray Riggs, of Harrisonville, Missouri was born November 10, 1942 in Wilmington, North Carolina the son of David Garfield and Clara Mae (Carter) Riggs. He departed this life on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at the St. Joseph Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri surrounded by love and family at the age of 74 years, 7 months and 26 days.
On November 15, 1963, Donald was united in marriage to Dorothy Ann Meins in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Donald was a Master Sergeant for the United States Air Force until his retirement in 1983. Later he was employed at the Post Office in Harrisonville until his retirement in 2005. Donald loved gardening, going fishing and going to the Casino.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Donald is survived by his wife, Dorothy Riggs of the home; two sons, David Riggs and wife Mitzi, Orlando, Oklahoma, and Nathan Riggs, Creighton, Missouri; a daughter, Jessica Johnson and husband Steve, Peculiar, Missouri; 6 grandchildren, Leon Riggs and wife Hope, Echo DeMaranville, Eli Riggs, Grace Riggs, Aubree Riggs and Ethan Johnson; two great-grandchildren, Jasmine and Ethan Riggs; a brother, David G. Riggs and wife Mary, Tomahawk, Wisconsin; two sisters, Jane Schulze and husband Fred, Madison, Wisconsin, and Annette Nelson and husband Lee, Lacrosse, Wisconsin; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Cremation. A Military Graveside Inurnment will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 14, 2017 at the Dayton Cemetery near Garden City, Missouri.
After the service, there will be a gathering of family and friends at the Garden City, Missouri Community Building, 201 Willow Lane.
