Donald Wayne Read

Donald Wayne Read, age 75, went with happy heart to be with his lord, Jesus Christ, on 26 April 2012.
Don was born 31 August 1936 in Winterset, Iowa to his parents, Nelson and Addy(Dale) Read.
He grew up on a farm and loved his John Deere tractors. He was a sportsman in high school and he loved football and track. He graduated in 1955 and went into the Marine Corps; he loved being a Marine and served with great honor. After leaving the Corps, he signed up with the US Postal Service.
He married Miss Joyce Tripp and they had 4 children. They divorced and later in 1971 he met and married Ann(a)(Mahana) Belanger, a young mother of 2 boys and she was also a mail-carrier. They moved from California back to St.Charles, Iowa near Winterset.
He is survived by his wife, Ann, 6 children, Chuck(Gloria), Dennis(Cynia), Donna(Bob)Ruckman, Shannon(Kimberly), Terry(Tanya), Denise(Don)Rink; 18 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren. Also brothers, Clifford(Glynnis), Paul(Myrna), Kenneth(Melissa), numerous nieces and nephews and some aunts and uncles.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Addy Read, his sister Patricia Lou(Read) Calaway, and older brother, Jerald Nelson Read. His family are long time pioneers of Winterset.
Memorial services to be at Winterset Nazarene Church where he was a long-time member.
The family ask that instead of flowers please send a donation to any military group that help veterans.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
