Dorothy Louise Burton of Garden City, Missouri was born June 16, 1936 in Kansas City, Missouri the daughter of Claire Raymond and Mollie Louise (Walton) Eckart. She departed this life on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital, Clinton, Missouri at the age of 73 years, 7 months and 4 days.
On August 19, 1955, Dorothy was united in marriage to LeRoy Allen ?Tony? Burton in Garden City, Missouri.
Dorothy was employed as a custodian at the Cass County Courthouse, Harrisonville, Missouri for the past 14 years until her retirement in 2005. Earlier she was employed at several local restaurants and the Holden, Missouri sewing factory. She was a member of the New Covenant Fellowship, Garden City. Dorothy enjoyed her flowers, feeding the birds, attending the local dances and playing the piano for the local dances. The nicknames her family called her by was ?Dode? or ?Dort?. She was a lifelong local resident.
She was preceded in death by her father, Claire.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Tony Burton of the home; three sons, Victor Burton and wife, Rita, LaCygne, Kansas, Steve Burton and wife, Christina, Myles Burton and wife, Deborah all of Garden City, Missouri; two daughters, Sue Ann Selvy, Garden City, Missouri, Karen Stout, Clinton, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; her mother, Mollie Sigler, Garden City, Missouri; a brother, James R. Eckart, St. Petersburg, Florida; a sister, Shirley Burton, Garden City, Missouri; other relatives and many friends
Graveside service and interment were held Saturday, January 23, 2010 at the Dayton Cemetery near Garden City, Missouri.
