Dorothy M. Audsley

Dorothy Marie Anderson Audsley was born 8 January 1925, in rural Drexel, Bates County, MO to Clifford and Bessie Thornbrough Anderson and died 1 November 2012 at Golden Years Nursing Home, Harrisonville.
She attended McNeil one room elementary school except the year she went with sister-in-law Hazel when she taught at Woodland. She started to High School at Merwin. Then in 1941, her Mother and brother Ray moved to Garden City area where she finished high school and enjoyed most playing basket ball. She worked 2 years at the Fairfax B-25 Bomber Plant. After Ray went into the service, her Mom and sister-in-law Helen and Dorothy moved into a rooming house on Harrison in Kansas City. She was a billing clerk for chief Freight Line and that is where she met Ralph. They were married on 15 January 1948 in his folk’s home in Kansas City, MO. To this union were born Larry Russell and Carol Sue. The Audsley’s moved back to the Garden City area when the children were young. They bought her present home in 1969 in Harrisonville. Dorothy was a bookkeeper for Bob Johnson’s Appliance Store for 30 years. She has been an avid bowler, getting over 200 most times. She had over come cancer, stroke, open heart surgery, gall bladder surgery, C-Diff & Staff infections and died of congestive heart failure. Through out all these difficulties, she had a positive outlook and was very appreciative of those caring for her. She was able to live in her own home until the last 3 months of her life. Just last winter she crocheted 12 lap robes for Children’s Mercy Hospital. She was a member of the Harrisonville First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, husband, daughter and grandson Troy Shipley.
She leaves behind her son Larry of Harrisonville, grand daughter Brook Gray and husband Sean and great grandsons Ashton and Landon Gray all of Lee’s Summit; nieces Marilyn Moreland, Marlene Zygmontowicz., Marilyn Davis and Vicky Anderson and nephews Charles, Kendall, Donald, John and Gary Anderson and 1 cousin Rita Gaylord. And special friends “Mag” Chester and Doris Williams.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 5, 2012 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri. Burial will be in the Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville, Missouri.
