Dwight Wood

Dwight Wood, 79, of Garden City, Missouri, passed away on November 27, 2024. He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Winnie Wood (née Sherman); his daughter, Renada Rasmussen (née Kimes), and son-in-law, Tracy Rasmussen, of Austin, Texas; his granddaughter, Thea Trynock (née Rasmussen), and her husband, Walter “Spinner” Trynock; and his great-grandson, Walter Trynock, of St. Charles, Missouri. He also leaves behind many cousins, neighbors, and dear friends.

Dwight was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Elsie Wood, and his brother, Don Wood.

After graduating high school, Dwight attended Central Missouri State in Warrensburg before proudly serving in the United States Air Force for six years. In the 1980s, he earned his private pilot’s license and joined the Flying Farmers, where he blended his love for aviation with his passion for farming.

Farming wasn’t just Dwight’s career; it was his life. He dedicated himself to the land for over seven decades, instilling values of hard work and resilience in everyone who knew him. In addition to his work on the farm, Dwight served as a deacon for 34 years, most recently at Christ Fellowship Church in Archie, Missouri. His faith and devotion to his community were constants throughout his life.

Dwight’s quiet demeanor masked a kind and generous heart that left a lasting impression on everyone who met him. With a coffee cup always in hand and a legendary sweet tooth, he never turned down dessert or a snack. He loved the simple joys in life, whether working on the farm, fixing things around the house, or relaxing in his favorite recliner watching westerns at a famously loud volume.

Most of all, Dwight treasured his family. He found his greatest happiness in their company, sharing love, laughter, and warm memories during their visits.

Per Dwight’s wishes, no services will be held.

Dwight will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of faith, kindness, and hard work will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
