Ed Graves, 84, of Strasburg, was born Saturday, July 21, 1928 in Jefferson City, Missouri, the son of Joseph F. and Gladys E. (Davis) Graves. He departed this life at 10:10 p.m. on Friday, August 31, 2012 at his home in Strasburg surrounded with love and family. He was a 1946 Paseo High School Graduate.
On February 14, 1953, Ed was united in marriage to Fern Hackett in Strasburg, Missouri.
Ed was employed as a mechanic for Hal Quinn Buick & Honda retiring in 1992. He also owned and operated Ed’s Radio and T.V. service out of his home in Strasburg. He was of the Presbyterian Faith.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one granddaughter Emily, and one brother Wallace Graves.
Ed is survived by his wife Fern of the home; Two sons Rod (and Pam) Graves, and Roger (and Kathy) Graves both of Lee’s Summit; Four grandchildren Brad Graves of Kansas City, Lindsey Graves of Ames, Iowa, Eric Graves and Jason Graves of Lee’s Summit; several nieces and nephews; other relatives; and many friends.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, September 5, 2012, at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home. Pastor David Hackett of the Faith United Methodist Church, Grain Valley will officiate. Interment will be in the Strasburg Cemetery. Casket bearers are Brad Graves, Eric Graves, Jason Graves, Lindsey Graves, David Patrick, and Wayne Stock. Honorary casket bearers are Ray Anderson, Jim Aronhalt, Lance Baker, Sal Garcia, Ken Jobe, and Randy Kloeppel.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice Care of the Midwest, Strasburg Cemetery, or the Strasburg Union Church and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
