Edith Marie Thomas of Garden City, Missouri was born August 26, 1932 in Kansas City, Missouri the daughter of George Otho and Maureen Adele (White) French. She departed this life on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at the Vitas Hospice Care, Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 81 years, 9 months and 24 days.
On April 5, 1952, Edith was united in marriage to Robert Leroy Thomas in Kansas City, Missouri.
Edith was employed as a printer for Hallmark Cards, Kansas City, Missouri until her retirement in 1953. Edith enjoyed being a homemaker and a housewife and the farm life taking care of her cattle. She had lived in Kansas City before moving to Garden City in 1959.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Thomas on April 13, 2007; her son, Chris Thomas on March 11, 2014; a brother, James French and a sister, Audrey Cox.
Edith is survived by four sons, Michael Thomas and wife, Barbara, Mark Thomas and wife, Becky, John Thomas all of Garden City, Missouri, Neil Thomas, Lee’s Summit, Missouri; a daughter, Wendy Flanigan and husband, Harold, Belton, Missouri; 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Clarence French, Pleasant Hill, Missouri, Forest French, San Antonio, Texas, Bruce French, Cole Camp, Missouri; three sisters, Barbara Tabor, Creighton, Missouri, Carol Brown, Garden City, Missouri, Libbie Longacre, Garden City, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.
Graveside services were held Saturday, June 28, 2014 in Garden City Cemetery, Garden City, Missouri.
Family suggest memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
