Mrs. Elberta Mae Brown, of Harrisonville, Missouri, was born February 27, 1918 in Rush Springs, Oklahoma, the daughter of Ralph Gerald and Laura Ruth (Rhors) Hawkins. She departed this life Friday, December 8, 2006, at Cass Medical Center, Harrisonville at the age of 88 years, 9 months and 11 days.
On April 1, 1938, Elberta was united in marriage to Kenneth Eugene Brown in Olathe, Kansas.
Elberta was a homemaker. She was a member of Rose Hill Baptist Church, near Latour, Missouri. Elberta loved to sew and make quilts. She had lived at East Lynne, Missouri before moving to Harrisonville in 2006.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth E. Brown on September 21, 1989; a son, Kenneth Clyde Brown on April 17, 1969; a grandson, Darren Wheeldon; a great-grandson, Justin Barnes; two brothers and one sister.
She is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Barnes and husband, Claude of North Richland Hills, Texas and Mary Jane Wheeldon and husband, Richard of Archie, Missouri; ten grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, J.C. Hawkins, Cotter, Arkansas and Ralph Hawkins, Harrisonville, Missouri; one sister, Laurana Shafer, Reno, Nevada; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, December 11, 2006 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with burial in the Brown Cemetery near Oak Grove, Missouri.
