Ellen Marie Jennings, of Harrisonville, Missouri, was born May 11, 1946 in Huntington Park, California the daughter of George Herbert and Ellen Isabel (Bowman) Worley Kirk. She departed this life on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 68 years, 3 months and 23 days.
On May 12, 1962, Ellen was united in marriage to Clarence Leroy Jennings in Grandview, Missouri.
Ellen was a homemaker and loved being with her family and was known as a great cook. She was a member of the Garden City Chapter #340 Order of the Eastern Star and the Dayton Community Church. Ellen enjoyed square dancing, bowling, playing bingo, poker and when she was younger, playing softball. She was the 2nd woman volunteer firefighter for the City of Harrisonville.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother.
Ellen is survived by her husband Leroy Jennings of the home; a son, Joseph Henry Jennings, Harrisonville, Missouri; two daughters, Teryna Lynn Wells and husband Mitch, Harrisonville, Missouri and Theresa Leann Jennings, State of Oregon; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren with one on the way; two sisters, Bambi Rose Turk, Harrisonville, Missouri and Roxie Ann Kirk, Gig Harbor, Washington; other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 6, 2014 at the Dayton Community Church near Garden City, MO with burial at the Dayton Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
