Evelyn Marie (Steineger) Rudell was born in Kansas City, Kansas July 24, of 1920.
Born to Joseph E. and Tessa Faye Steineger of Muncie, Kansas, she attended Muncie Grade School and graduated from Washington Rural High School, class of 1938. She married Ernest I. Rudell, of Bonner Springs, KS, January 6th, 1940, and raised four children in Kansas City, Kansas, before retiring at the Lake of the Ozark's in 1972.
Most of her employment career was dedicated to Manager of the Bookkeeping Department at W.P Stark Lumber Company in Kansas City, Kansas. For ten years she and her family owned and operated the Music Center, on the square, in Harrisonville, Missouri, until 1978. She had a great appreciation for history, expressed in her reading and knowledge, and in music of the big band era especially.. She gardened along-side her husband, each year, worked tirelessly in canning food, trying new recipes, and being a lovely friend, interested supportive Grandmother, and Mother, dedicated wife, and family friend. She was a member of the "Jolly 60" senior fellowship program in Garden City Mo. By example she instilled a love of learning, achievement, responsibility and compassion in her children and grandchildren. She was always more interested in others, than in herself. She gave support and encouragement to everyone who knew her. She kept correspondence with many friends and never failed to send cards for birthdays and all occasions. She crocheted beautiful baby blankets and gowns for new babies in the family, and made caps and scarves for family and for a mission in Kansas City. She impressed everyone she met, as she lived her life with beauty,,integrity,intelligence,a peaceful, loving wise spirit..She will live on in the hearts of all those who knew her, and will always be missed.
Preceding her in death were her parents and husband of 58 years, June 17, 1998.
Surviving include three sons, Lloyd I. Rudell and wife, Barbara Susan, Harrisonville, Missouri, Wayne Edward Rudell and wife, Sondra, Ft. Huachuca, Arizona, Gary Michael Rudell, Lee’s Summit, Missouri; a daughter, Marilynn Kathleen Rudell, Harrisonville, Missouri; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a brother, Joseph e. Steineger II, Kansas City, Kansas; a sister, Elma Faye Butters, Houston, Texas; other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 2, 2012 at the St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1300 N. 18th St. Kansas CIty, Kansas 66102 with burial in the Highland Park Cemetery, Kansas City, Kansas.
