Everett Louis King Jr., of Harrisonville, Missouri, was born June 23, 1929 in rural Butler, Missouri the son of Everett Louis Sr. and Cynthia Louise (Short) King. He departed this life on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Golden Years Care Services, Harrisonville at the age of 85 years, 4 months and 8 days.
On June 19, 1948, Everett was united in marriage to Charlotte Frances Groves in Nevada, Missouri. They celebrated their 66th anniversary this past June.
Everett was employed in quality control at the General Motors – Fairfax until his retirement in 1982. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Harrisonville, the Cass Masonic Lodge #147 A.F. & A.M. and just received his 40 years pin, the UAW Local #31, Kansas City, Royal Arch Mason and was a cub scout master and a boys scout leader. Everett enjoyed fishing, gardening, spending time with his family and playing with his grandchildren. He had moved to Harrisonville in 1955.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Kevin King on September 11, 2005; a son-in-law, John Goss Jr. on April 26, 2014 and 3 brothers, Leo, Harold and Bob King.
Everett is survived by his wife, Charlotte F. King of the home; two daughters, Kathy Goss, Harrisonville, Carol Rouse and husband Christopher, Nevada, Missouri; 6 grandchildren, Jeffrey, Zonia, Steven, Eric, Adam and Heather; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Doris Leavitt, Owosso, Michigan; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Sunday, October 5, 2014 at the United Methodist Church Harrisonville, Missouri.
Masonic service was held Sunday, October 5, 2014 at the church with the funeral to immediately follow. Burial is in the Orient Cemetery after the service.
Family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, Harrisonville, Missouri.
