Forrest Miller

April 13, 1940 — December 23, 2016

Forrest Lee Miller, of Garden City, Missouri was born April 13, 1940 in Urich, Missouri the son of George Bernard and Zoma Linnie (Williams) Miller. He departed this life on Friday, December 23, 2016 at the St. Catherine Hospital, Garden City, Kansas at the age of 76 years, 8 months and 10 days.
Forrest was an assembler at Leed's Plant until his retirement in 1985. He owned and operated one of the longest running family businesses in Garden City, Miller Sporting Goods. Forrest loved hunting, archery, shooting trap and was a great teacher to many people on shooting archery and guns. He enjoyed taking his granddaughter deer hunting to get her first kill. Forrest was a family man and was always attending his children and grandchildren sporting events. He was an advocate for the 2nd amendment and people were known to come in to talk politics and to "poke the bear". Forrest was also known to share some hunting stories in the shop and listen to other people's stories. He genuinely cared for other people.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Hobart Miller.
Forrest is survived by two sons, Bradley Miller and wife Charmie, Garden City, Missouri and Travis Miller, North Kansas City, Missouri; 3 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 3 step-great-grandchildren; Mary Miller, Adrian, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, December 30, 2016 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri with burial in the Garden City Cemetery.
