Mrs. Mary Frances Osborne, of Urich, Missouri, was born June 28, 1918 in Worth County, Missouri, the daughter of Ward and Lucy (Tandy) Porter. Due to her premature birth, she and her twin brother Fielding were kept on pillows on an open oven door of the wood stove for the first few days of their lives. She departed this life Friday, June 15, 2007, at her son's home near Latour, Missouri at the age of 88 years, 11 months and 17 days.
Frances attended high school in Grant City, Missouri and beauty school in Omaha, Nebraska. Before her marriage she owned a beauty shop, ""Fair Lady"" in Albany, Missouri. Later she worked at Royal Mfg. in Holden, Missouri and as a certified nurse's aide. On October 25, 1945, Frances was united in marriage to Charles William Osborne, by Bob Turner, a family friend in Albany. They lived near Burlington Junction, Missouri until 1958 when they moved to Blairstown, Missouri. After selling her home she lived at Grand River Senior Housing in Urich, Missouri before becoming ill. She was a member of the Norris United Methodist Church. Frances loved flowers, particularly irises.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Osborne on January 17, 1987; a son, Henry Wayne Osborne and a grandson, Jeffery Coulter; three brothers, Donald, Fielding and Harold Porter; a sister, Louise (Porter) Searcy.
She is survived by her children, Stephen Osborne and wife, Joyce, Kansas City, Missouri, Eddie Osborne, Warrensburg, Missouri, Charlotte Keller and husband, Jim, Chilhowee, Missouri, Wendell Osborne and wife Gail, Latour, Missouri, Robin Osborne, Urich, Missouri and an ""adopted"" son, Herbie Williams, Norfolk, Virginia; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri with burial in the Urich Cemetery, Urich, Missouri.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Twin Lakes Hospice and may be left at the funeral home.
