Robert Franklin “Frankie” Cornett was born November 3, 1995 at Truman Medical in Lee’s Summit, MO. He was raised his entire life in and around Creighton, MO on his grandparents farm. Frankie tragically left us on Tuesday evening January 17, 2023. Frankie was only 27 years old and he has left us way too soon.
Frankie attended Sherwood Elementary and High School (Creighton, MO), graduating May 2014. He loved playing football from the age of 7 and all through High School. He briefly attended community college for a year, but decided he wanted to work outside and not be trapped at a desk. He worked the last seven years for the Heavy Laborers’ Union, Local #663. He was also a farmer and loved working his cows, going to the livestock auctions, baling hay and riding around on the John Deere Tractors.
Frankie loved hunting and fishing, spending time with friends and family, driving gravel backroads in his truck, listening to and singing music, especially country music. He could talk for hours about trucks, cars, farm life and his dreams. We spent many summers down at the lake with family and friends floating on our old pontoon and inner-tubing when he could get away. Frankie always had a ready smile and fun loving nature.
Frankie never married and did not have any children of his own. It was one of his greatest wishes to have a family and kids. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Jessie Dean Cornett, Sr. and Margie Belle (Kirk) Cornett (whom also carried the titles Dad and Mom).
Frankie is survived by his Mom Michelle Renia (Cornett) Branson, his little brother James Flint Cornett and new baby niece Bella Rose Cornett, all currently of Kansas City, MO; one uncle, Jessie D. Cornett Jr. of Creighton, MO and one aunt, Joyce Cornett Thurman of Lebanon, MO. Frankie is also survived by a great uncle and two great aunts; Larry Cornett and wife, Glenda, of Osceola, MO and Elsie Marie Verdict, of Rogers, Arkansas; a long list of cousins, second cousins, other relatives and friends.
Our hearts are broken, haunted by missed opportunities, and what should have been a long future ahead. Gone too soon, we love you.
Funeral Service will be held 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
