Fred Dale Leeth passed away, Saturday, August 10, 2013 at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. Fred was born on June 6, 1931 in Kansas City, Missouri to Fred Leeth and Anna Hopkins Leeth Harris.
He completed his primary and secondary education on the east side of Kansas City. He also spent a good portion of his childhood and adult life in Vernon County Missouri where he was known as “Buddy.” Fred was honorably discharged from the United States Navy in 1955. He went on to earn a bachelor and master’s degree in education from Central Missouri State University. Fred married Frances Kay Stokes in 1958. Coach Leeth, as he was know by many, was a beloved teacher and coach of football, basketball and track at many schools in western and southern Missouri . He was an avid sports enthusiast and a devoted fan of the Kansas City Royals. He was also an unofficial World War II historian.
Fred is preceded in death by both parents and an infant brother John Douglas.
He is survived in death by one sister, Jeannette Cross of Santa Fe, New Mexico, three children Robin Leeth Bobinmyer of Pittsburg, Missouri, Jennifer Leeth of Fairway, Kansas and Vincent Leeth of Kearney, Missouri. Fred has nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Private graveside services were held Monday, August 12, 2013 at the Balltown Cemetery near Nevada, Missouri.
