Garry Dewayne Murphy of Harrisonville, Missouri was born June 2, 1937 in Moody, Missouri the son of Robert William and Bertha Burdena (Newberry) Murphy. He departed this life on Monday, November 10, 2014 at Lee's Summit Community Hospital, Lee's Summit, Missouri surrounded by love and family at the age of 77 years, 5 months and 8 days.
On August 23, 2008, Garry was united in marriage to Linda Gayle (Daniels) Willard in Harrisonville, Missouri.
Garry owned and operated Murphy's Used Cars near Harrisonville for the past 30 years. He was a member of Church on the Rock, Harrisonville and the NRA. Garry enjoyed being with his family and grandchildren, the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He was always looking for a "good deal" and haggling over the final price. Garry had lived in West Plains, Missouri before moving to Harrisonville.
Garry was preceded in death by his parents.
Garry is survived by his wife, Linda Murphy of the home; a son, Roddy Murphy, Guthrie, Oklahoma; six daughters, Tammy Lone, Springfield, Missouri, Sheila Murphy, Melissa Miller, Adrian, Missouri, Sabrina Miller (Scott), Edmond, Oklahoma, Christa McLanahan (Raymond), Louisburg, Kansas, Alica Bolton (Lee), Paola, Kansas; fourteen grandchildren; two brothers, Barry G. Murphy (Mary), Creighton, Missouri, Robert D. Murphy (Steph), Peculiar, Missouri; two sisters, Brenda Bridges, Las Vegas, Nevada, Janet C. Murphy, Harrisonville, Missouri; other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, November 13, 2014 at the Church On The Rock, Harrisonville, Missouri with burial in the Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville.
Family will received friends Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Church On the Rock Memorial Fund.
