Gary A. Pulliam of Adrian, Missouri was born March 26, 1940 in Sacramento, California; the son of Leonidas Bates; Jr. and Mary Elizabeth (Wray) Pulliam. He departed this life on Friday, April 29, 2022 at his home in Adrian, Missouri at the age of 82 years 1 month and 3 days.
Gary worked at Western Electric most of his working career in Lee’s Summit, Missouri monitoring quality control until he retired. He then spent the next 20+ years living and working on their Angus Cattle farm with his son Gene near Ballard, Missouri. Most of his retirement years were spent doing what he enjoyed the most; working the farm by maintaining fences, mowing pastures and planting his garden; always growing more than he needed so he could share with friends and neighbors. In addition to the farm work, his favorite pastime was cutting wood to heat the old farmhouse and when things got stressful in life everyone always knew to listen for the sound of the chainsaw because that’s where he was. Gary loved his sons and grandchildren and always sacrificed; giving beyond any expectation in the best way he knew to help them along life’s journey.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Clayton Duane Pulliam on March 11, 2017 and his brother Larry Pulliam.
Gary is survived by a son and son-in-law Gene Pulliam and David Clare of St. Louis, MO, a son Ed Pulliam of Forsyth, MO, a granddaughter Jessie Pulliam of Forsyth, MO and 3 grandsons Derek Pulliam of Burlington Junction, MO, Joshua Pulliam of Bradleyville, MO and Devan Pulliam of Burlington Junction, MO, 3 great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
