Gary Ralph Miles of East Lynne, Missouri was born October 20, 1948 in Independence, Missouri the son of William Benjamin and Dortha (Kugler) Miles. He departed this life on Sunday, January 23, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family at the age of 62 years, 3 months and 3 days. On March 24, 2002 Gary was united in marriage to Mary Jean Slate in Las Vegas, Nevada. Gary was employed as a service technician for Fair Point Telephone Company and had earlier been employed by Contel, GTE and Casstel. He was a member of South Summit Christian Church, Lee?s Summit, Missouri and the CWA Union. He enjoyed his family, playing with his grandchildren the outdoors and gardening. Gary will be remembered for being Jeannie?s best friend, being called Dad and Grandpa. He had lived in Garden City, Missouri before moving to East Lynne in December of 2005. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Anthony Jacob Miles. Gary is survived by his wife, Jeannie Miles of the home; a son, Telly R. Miles, Holden, Missouri; three daughters, Gari Ann Waugh and husband, Mike, Pleasant Hill, Missouri, Abbi Haak and husband, Mitchell, Holden, Missouri, Courtney Miles, Creighton, Missouri; a step-son, Shawn Vaughan, Columbia, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren; five brothers, Max Miles, Harrisonville, Missouri, Bill Miles, Willard, Missouri, Gene Miles, Holden, Missouri, Earl Miles, Wentzville, Missouri, Richard Miles, Warrensburg, Missouri; four sisters, Joy Stoll, Garden City, Missouri, Sondra Strubel, Windsor, Missouri, Gail Fitzwater, Climax Springs, Missouri, Karen Folk, Harrisonville, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, January 27, 2011 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri with burial in the Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville, Missouri.
Family suggest memorial contributions may be made to one of the following; South Summit Christian Church Memorial Fund, Lee's Summit, Missouri, American Cancer Society, or to Grace Hospice.
