Gilbert E. ""Gene"" Sisk, of Grandview, Missouri, was born August 21, 1924 near Garden City, Missouri, the son of John Hosea and Bessie May (White) Sisk. He departed this life Thursday, January 10, 2008, at the Grandview Manor Care Center, Grandview at the age of 83 years, 4 months and 19 days.
On June 8, 1952, Gene was united in marriage to Patricia Lou Franck in Garden City, Missouri.
Gene worked for Hobart Corp., Lenexa, Kansas for 39 years until his retirement in 1987. He was a Navy veteran of World War II serving on a destroyer in the South Pacific. Gene was a member of the Grandview United Methodist Church and did volunteer work at the Shepherds Center, Grandview after his retirement. He was an avid fisherman and loved to camp and travel with friends and family. Gene had lived in Garden City before moving to Grandview in 1953.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Clifford, Buford, Ivan, Albert and Richard Sisk and a sister, Dottie Gwinner.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patricia L. Sisk of the home; a son, Randy Sisk and wife Brenda, Overland Park, Kansas; a daughter, Jan Gray, Kansas City, Missouri; four grandchildren, Angie Roy and husband Chris, Centerton, Arkansas, Becky Gray, Kansas City, Missouri, Daniel and Andrea Sisk, Overland Park, Kansas; a great-granddaughter, Ella Roy; other relatives and many friends.
