George Swope Pickens Jr., of Harrisonville, Missouri was born January 1, 1952 in Dayton, Kentucky the son of George Swope and Edna Marie (Hart) Pickens. He departed this life on Friday, March 9, 2012 at Crown Care Center at the age of 60 years, 2 months and 8 days.
George was employed as a mechanic and bus driver. He was a member of the Heart of Life Church, Garden City, Missouri. George enjoyed cooking, watching movies and music. He especially enjoyed watching Twilight Zone and Andy Griffith Marathons and anything that had to do with Harley Davidson’s. George was loved much and will be missed by all.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Marie McCall and Georgiana (Boogie) Johnson; two brother-in-law’s, Gerald McCall and Bill Merrifield.
George is survived by his wife, Cathy Marie Brooks, Fountain Valley, California; two sons Jason Aaron Pickens, Little Rock, Arkansas and Anthony Robert Pickens, Fountain Valley, California; a daughter, Amy Lynn Pozza and husband Richard, Sherwood, Arkansas; 4 grandchildren, Cara Pozza, Ty Pozza, Kaylee Pickens and Noah Pickens; 3 sisters, Shirley Mae Merrifield, Gloria Jean Quezada and husband Robert, Donna Sue Stanton and husband James all of Garden City, Missouri; 7 nieces and nephews, Tommy Johnson, Helen Van, Ronnie Merrifield, Danny Merrifield, Nathan Stanton, Amanda Quezada, Robert Quezada and their spouses and families; He will be missed by the Bracks, Willson, Webster, Tucker, Soto, Lavi-Lavi, Paepule and Dorff families and many friends.
Cremation with a private family memorial service.
Funeral arrangments were under the direction of the Cass County Cremation Service, Harrisonville.
