Georgia Amabel O’Bannon of Odessa, Missouri was born January 29, 1929 near Creighton, Missouri the daughter of Joe Estel and Julian Bernice (Burgard) O’Bannon. She departed this life on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 82 years, 9 months and 16 days.
Georgia was employed as a beautician for Lindys Beauty Shop, Independence, Missouri until her retirement. She was a graduate of Independence, Missouri Cosmetology School and was at one time the 2nd oldest licensed cosmetologist in the State of Missouri. Georgia was baptized in the Christian Church at an early age. She enjoyed preparing holiday dinners for her family, sewing, crocheting and raising bobby calves. Georgia had lived in Independence, Odessa and Sedalia before moving back to Odessa to be near her family. Besides her parents, Georgia was preceded in death by her bother, Jay O’Bannon.
Georgia is survived by a son, Jerry A. Bryant and wife Gail, a daughter, Marilyn J. Halsey all of Odessa, Missouri; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, John M. O’Bannon, Butler, Missouri; other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 19, 2011 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri with burial in the Grant Cemetery near Creighton, Missouri.
Family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 19, 2011 at the funeral home.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Memorial Fund, Odessa, Missouri or the Grant Cemetery Association.
