Gerald Dean Pruitt of Peculiar, Missouri was born March 6, 1937 in Allen Springs, Allen County Kentucky the son of Carsmer Milton and Ida Belle (Crabtreee) Pruitt. He departed this life on Monday, September 9, 2013 at his home at the age of 76 years, 6 months and 3 days.
On August 24, 1959 Gerald was united in marriage to Judith Phyllis Durbin in Kansas City, Missouri.
Gerald was a repairman for Standard Store Fixture in Kansas City, Missouri before his retirement in 2007. He was a Marine veteran. Gerald had a great sense of humor, was a great father and grandfather. He will be remembered for the sacrifices he made for everyone in his family. He loved watching Gun Smoke with all of his grandkids. He loved his antiques, bikes, and cars. Gerald had lived in Kansas City, Missouri before moving to Peculiar in 1972.
Besides his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by his sister, Louise.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Judith P. Pruitt of the home; a son, Donald Pruitt, Bolivar, Missouri; four daughters, Pam Dorgan, Tammy Pendleton and Judy Vaters all of Peculiar, Missouri, Ramona Wisdom, Harrisonville, Missouri; his grandchildren, Raechel, Matt, Mindy, Shawn, Shannon, Britney, Misty, Christina, and Brianna two great-grandchildren; Conner and Shawn and a brother, Ray Pruitt, Peculiar, Missouri; a sister, Jeanetta Mandrell, Indianapolis, Indiana; other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, September 13, 2013 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with burial in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri.
