Gilbert Dale Linder Sr. was born on September 17, 1942 in Stanley, Kansas, at home in a little white house, to John Zebedee Linder and Rosie Lakey Linder, the youngest of 13 children. He departed this life Sunday, October 02, 2011 at St. Joseph Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri.
He was united in marriage with Joanne Belle Mitchell on November 29, 1961. The following years saw the addition to their family of five children, Robert, Jake, Sherri, Becky, and Angel.
Gilbert worked in construction for most of his life, operating heavy machinery.
In his spare time, Gilbert enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He enjoyed coaching his children in sports when they were young. He also enjoyed listening to music and playing the guitar with his family, and could always be counted on for a fantastic story. At Christmas, he enjoyed playing Santa Claus for the kids.
In his retirement, Gilbert could often be found driving his tractor and four wheeler around his farm, busy on a woodworking project in his garage, and spending time with his family.
Gilbert always went out of his way to help those in need, and this legacy continues past his life through the donation of his organs.
