Grace Arlene Bales of Harrisonville, Missouri was born October 7, 1920 in Anson, Kansas the daughter of James A. and Lula (Colvin) McCort. She departed this life on Friday, December 13, 2013 at Cass Regional Medical Center, Harrisonville, Missouri at the age of 93 years, 2 months and 6 days.
On October 9, 1937, Grace was united in marriage to Riley H. Bales.
Grace was a homemaker and earlier during the World War II she was employed at Pratt-Whitney, Kansas City, Missouri. She was a member of Church on the Rock, Harrisonville. Grace was a great cook and enjoyed traveling. She had lived in Ballard, Kansas City, Missouri and Mesa, Arizona before moving to Harrisonville in 2002.
Besides her parents, Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Riley on June 16, 2004; her daughter, Martha Ann Koch; a brother, Estle McCort and a sister, Olene Hodges.
Grace is survived by two sons, Howard H. Bales, Lake Quivira, Kansas, Riley J. Bales, Harrisonville, Missouri; 6 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, James E. McCort, Chillicothe, Missouri; 2 sisters, Reva Carbines, Menifey, California, Mary Ryan, Phoenix, Arizona; a half-sister, Marie Sallis, Lockport, New York; other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at the Lee's Summit Cemetery, Lee's Summit, Missouri.
