Harold Gilbert Burton of Deepwater, Missouri was born February 8, 1929 in East Lynne, Missouri the son of Charles Gilbert and Viola Mae (Kagarice) Burton. He departed this life on Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital, Clinton, Missouri at the age of 79 years, 4 months and 17 days.
On December 13, 1969, Harold was united in marriage to Opal Elizabeth Wade in Adrian, Missouri.
Harold was employed as an assembler for General Motors Leeds Plant in Kansas City, Missouri until his retirement in 1983. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church, East Lynne, an Army veteran and member of the United Auto Workers Local 93, Kansas City. Harold enjoyed trapping, fishing, hunting and painting. He had lived in East Lynne before moving to Deepwater in 1997.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Doc Burton on December 26, 2007.
He is survived by his wife, Opal E. Burton of the home; a son, Glen Burton, Pleasant Hill, Missouri; two daughters, Diane Gregg and husband, Billy, East Lynne, Missouri, Gay Dawn Curtis and husband, Bill, Pleasant Hill, Missouri; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his brother, Jimmie L. Burton and wife, Carol, Harrisonville, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.
Graveside services were held Monday, June 30, 2008 at the Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville, Missouri.
