Harry Duane (H.D.) Grieb, 75 of Harrisonville, MO. passed away January 29, 2013 at his home. He was born September 26, 1937, in Carthage, MO to Harry and Opal Shell Grieb, where he resided and attended his school years, graduating in 1955, from Alba, MO High School. On June 15, 1957, he married Marilyn Sue Breeden, his high school sweetheart - as both were crowned King and Queen of their senior class.
He was employed April 1, 1956 with MODOT of Southwest MO.
They had three daughters, Duana, Dona and DeLynne. The family resided in Mount Vernon, MO until 1965, when being transferred to Harrisonville, MO where he continued to work for MODOT until retiring on April 1, 1996.
He enjoyed his retirement of fishing, camping and visiting with this neighbors and helping them in any way needed. But most of all he enjoyed spending as much time possible with his granddaughters which were his pride and joy. He taught them things only a Grandfather “Bumpsie” could. They have been blessed with the wonderful memories that he has given them.
H.D. was a wonderful husband, a great father, along with being a teacher of life. He instilled many values and morals in us growing up, but the most valuable moral we were taught:
When we leave this world, we leave behind the material things accumulated.
But, we take with us upon our deaths, the respect and name sake for which we made.
For ourselves while given time on this earth.
A Celebration of Life Visiation was held Monday, February 4, 2013 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
Family suggests contributions may be made to Children's Mercy Hospital.
