Harvey Lee Chastain, of Mack's Creek, Missouri was born August 16, 1937 in Mount Vernon, Missouri the son of James Arthur and Florence Madeline (Davidson) Chastain. He departed this life on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, Missouri surrounded by love and family at the age of 79 years, 10 months and 9 days.
On August 9, 1955, Harvey was united in marriage to Mary Jean Coleman.
Harvey was an inspector for the Ford Motor Company Assembly Plant in Claycomo, Missouri for 33 years until his retirement in 1995. He was a volunteer fireman for the Mack's Creek Fire Department, loved horses and was in the Peculiar Horse Club and played guitar with the Pressley Band in Branson. Harvey loved to hunt, fish, play with his grandkids and play music for the nursing home in Mack's Creek.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Chastain on April 27, 2015; a daughter, Debra K. Chastain-Behringer; a son, Warren Lee Chastain; two brothers, Jack and Billy Chastain and a sister, Ruthie Waters.
He is survived by a son, Harvey Luke Chastain and wife Rebecca, Mack's Creek, Missouri; 4 daughters, Lucinda Lea Chastain, Flemington, Missouri, Mary Johnston and husband Roy, Buffalo, Missouri, Gretchen Lee and husband Shannon, Danielle Marie Schooler and husband Steve all of the State of Missouri; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren with 4 on the way; 6 brothers, Phillip Chastain, State of Kansas, Bob Chastain, Harrisonville, Missouri, Jim Chastain, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Tim Chastain, State of Kansas, Elijah Chastain, Belton, Missouri, Steve Chastain, State of North Carolina, North Carolina; a sister, Wanda Gonzales, Garden City, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral service was held Saturday, July 1, 2017 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with burial in the Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville.
